GolfCoach ("we," "our," or "us") operates the GolfCoach mobile application (the "App") and the website at golfcoach.tech. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our services.
By using GolfCoach, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name (optional)
- Password (stored in hashed form)
1.2 Golf Data
To provide our coaching and analysis features, we collect:
- Swing videos that you record and upload for analysis
- Frame annotations and key positions you mark in your swing
- Handicap index and history
- Round scores and statistics (fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts, etc.)
- Practice session logs
- Strokes gained data across putting, approach, short game, and driving
1.3 Usage Data
We automatically collect certain technical information:
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Feature usage patterns (which screens you visit, how often you analyze swings)
- Crash reports and performance data
1.4 Subscription Information
If you subscribe to GolfCoach Pro, payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not store your credit card or payment details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide AI swing analysis: Your swing videos are sent to our AI analysis pipeline to generate personalized coaching feedback, identify swing faults, and recommend drills.
- Track your progress: We use your round data, handicap, and practice logs to show your improvement over time and identify areas for focused practice.
- Personalize coaching: We analyze your swing history and performance data to identify your #1 issue and provide targeted coaching recommendations.
- Improve our service: We use aggregated, anonymized usage data to improve the app experience and our AI models.
- Communicate with you: We may send you service-related emails (e.g., account verification, subscription confirmations, important updates).
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide our features:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): We use Anthropic's Claude AI to analyze your swing videos and generate coaching feedback. When you submit a swing for analysis, selected frames from your video are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by their privacy policy and their data processing terms. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models under our API agreement.
- Apple App Store: Subscription billing and payment processing is handled by Apple.
- Cloud hosting providers: We use industry-standard cloud infrastructure to host our servers and store your data.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Swing videos are stored on our secure cloud servers. Videos are associated with your account and are not publicly accessible.
- Personal data (email, account details, golf statistics) is stored in an encrypted database with access controls.
- We use HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers.
- We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest, regular security audits, and access logging.
While we take extensive precautions to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Swing videos are retained for the lifetime of your account unless you delete them individually. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and swing videos within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Delete: You can delete individual swing videos at any time through the app. You can request complete account deletion, which will remove all your data from our systems.
- Export: You can request an export of your data in a portable format, including your swing analysis history, round logs, and statistics.
- Correction: You can update your account information at any time through the app settings.
- Opt-out: You can opt out of non-essential emails through your notification preferences.

7. Children's Privacy
GolfCoach is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 16, please contact us at privacy@golfcoach.tech and we will promptly delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international transfers of personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the app. Your continued use of GolfCoach after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
